Description:

1965 VW Van for sale.

This is located in Rio Rancho New Mexico USA, a suburb of Albuquerque.

It is in the process of a ground up restoration that has been interrupted by an already completed van that I just purchased. As a result of my lucky find, I can now sell this work in progress!

New Parts

Brake system has a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, rubber hoses and bleeders.

Wheel bearings and races are new.

Clutch Cable and tires are like new.

New right front spindle, king pins and ball joints.

New sending unit for the fuel tank.

The engine is from a 1970 VW, it's a 1600 Single Port that runs great! It starts right away and runs strong. The van really pepped up when I put it in.

The front seat is in good condition

NEEDS

As you can see, it needs a little body work. The nose is dented a little, the rear hatch has a dent but opens and closes OK. If you don't like the rear wheel-wells they make replacement fenderwells for it and there's a little surface rust around the windshield. The electrical needs some attention, such as brake lights and signals are intermittent, fuel gauge and the radio needs to hooked up, (it works). It does have about three small areas of rust; at the passenger footwell and by the rear of both rockers. There is some surface rust on the drivers side footwell (all pictured in photogallery) The side view mirror is cracked.

Runs

This van runs great! The most important mechanical needs have been addressed. It goes down the road straight and stops straight. The steering is tight and doesn't wander. The engine really hauls this van well. It starts right away with only 2-3 pumps, doesn't smoke or make any weird noises.
